There is so much confusion about the various baptisms mentioned in the New Testament. Many people think that every time they see the word "baptism" that water is involved.
Did you know that there are eight or more "baptisms" mentioned in the New Testament?
Did you know that not all of the baptisms noted in the Bible are for Christians?
Did you know that there are only two baptisms in the Bible that actually say that water is involved? Two others may include water.
Did you know that only one of these water baptisms should be practiced by Christians?
This book is an effort to help bring clarity to the various baptisms mentioned and taught in the Bible. If one does not understand which baptism they are speaking about, misunderstanding and erroneous interpretations are sure to follow.
Review
As a baptized believer, I have read several books over the years on baptism, and I think this helpful book stands shoulder to shoulder with all of them. But I'd go further: this book takes a real panoramic view of the whole subject of baptism and finds many links that I had missed before.
In his 16 chapters Dallmann covers specifically 10 different categories of baptism found in the bible. The remaining chapters introduce and link the themes as well as providing summary conclusions and a helpful quick reference biblical chart. Chapter 3 provides four simple questions we need to keep in mind as we explore the subject of baptism across the whole sweep of the Bible: who is doing the baptising, who is being baptised, into what are they being baptized and what is the purpose of this baptism. The answers are sometimes surprising, always illuminating. Dallmann does not do all the work for his readers. Whilst he always provides helpful pointers, he often leaves them to reach their own conclusions.
This is a short book but 'heavyweight' in its theological content. And yet its a straightforward read and helpful to Believers at whatever stage they have reached in their Christian journey. I highly recommend this book.

From the Author
The subject of "baptisms" can be a very emotion driven topic. There is so much controversy and confusion that the subject is often avoided.
While writing about the baptisms found in the Bible, I have attempted to take the approach of holding to ONLY and EXACTLY what the Scriptures say.
This book, "Baptisms - One? Many? Or Both?" is designed to provide easy-to-use tools to help identify and differentiate one Biblical baptism from another. Once baptisms have been identified, then the studying can begin.
It is my prayer that the readers will find this book to be as valuable a tool as I have.
