Description:

Union with Christ is the central truth of the whole biblical teaching about salvation. The entirety of our relationship with God can be summed up in this doctrine.
Yet when people ask what this union actually is, we flounder.
The incarnation shows that God has made us to be united with him, and God has given us his Word to enable us to understand the nature of this union. Set out with Robert Letham to explore this doctrine from Scripture—using help from the church fathers to modern theologians.

Review

"A first-class expositor of key themes in the Reformed faith. This outstanding book goes to the heart of the truth of salvation with deep learning, acumen, and pastoral wisdom. Highly recommended."
--J. I. Packer, Professor of Theology, Regent College, Vancouver, British Columbia

"No subject is of greater importance for the Christian life than union with Christ. Dr. Letham shows how it underpins every other aspect of our salvation. This is a stimulating work that all pastors and students should read and absorb into their ministry." --Gerald Bray, Research Professor of Divinity, Beeson Divinity School, Samford University, Birmingham, Alabama

"Robert Letham's Union with Christ is profound yet luminous scholarship. . . . In his book we find a happy confluence of biblical exposition, systematic theology, historical theology, and real-life illustrations. He draws on the treasuries of the church from Cyril of Alexandria . . . to Herman Bavinck." --Joel R. Beeke, President, Puritan Reformed Theological Seminary, Grand Rapids

"This is an important work on an important and timely topic vital to the church's understanding of the salvation we have in Christ. It is also a topic that has become increasingly controversial in recent years." --William B. Evans, Younts Professor of Bible and Religion, Erskine College, Due West, South Carolina
