Description:

Why am I always in conflict with my girlfriend/boyfriend, wife/husband, brother, sister ... ?

Why doesn't it seem like God cares about me?

Why can't I seem to make good decisions in my life?

What causes my anxiety?

I've been grieving a long time and can't get over it. Why would God let me go through this?

I want to be more spiritual, but there is so much other crap going on in my life, where and how do I start?

Are any of these questions similar to things you've asked?

Hearkening back to Be Here Now, Remember, by Ram Dass, Anxious Disciple blends together Eastern philosophy, Christian metaphysics, counseling theories, and common sense to provide a spiritual guide that deals with all these questions. Mills begins with grounding the reader in spiritual connection with the divine, then moves to cultivating a deeper awareness of self, and then connects these two aspects of being to having effective relationships. Living in the here and now is the key to making all this possible and empowers a disciple to live with less anxiety. This is essential in living a more effective and rewarding life.

"The creative power continues to be expressed through us because of the very nature of our existence. There is nothing we have to do to make that happen. We just have to be aware that it is already going on." P.19

"The True Vine is not about something exclusive to Christianity; it is about something exclusively spiritual that was the basis of Christianity." (p.26)

"Another way of looking at your quality world is to consider it to be the array of manifestations created by the condition of your soul in which you have managed to meet your needs."

From the Author

This book has been my baby, my favorite labor of love for the past eight years. While it may not be overly long, I have kept it that way on purpose. I don't want it to burden anyone who is trying to have a lighter journey. There is enough time commitment through the reflection exercises that I have included. This book encompasses the way I see life, the way I have learned to distill psychology, spirituality, and  a personal quest for inner freedom into a simple way of being. I hope you find it as helpful and illuminating as I have in writing it.
