How much do your children know? We teach our children academics. We give them instruction in the arts and physical fitness. We show them how to swim, skate, and ride a bike. But have we forgotten the most basic and necessary skill of all? Have we taught them to pray? Prayer is the foundation for communicating with God, growing as a person, and receiving help and wisdom for every other part of life. Teaching children to pray is one of the most important tasks parents have. Inside Teaching Your Child to Pray you will find:
Answers to your children's questions about prayer
Practical tips, helps, and activities for teaching the discipline of prayer
What the Bible says about children and prayer
Stories and examples of how prayer works
Ways to reap the benefits of prayer for your children and see it affect their lives
Give your children a real head start. Teach them to communicate with the Savior. It will make an eternal difference.

I began reading this book expecting to find step-by-step procedures, but these didn't appear until the last two chapters. What I did find is a very helpful guide for Christian parents.
Since children learn best from what is told to and modeled before them, parents need to understand what prayer is, when and how to pray, and what to expect when they pray. Osborne gives help in each of these areas. Parents may be surprised to learn that they are still praying in an immature way.
Osborne helps parents assess the maturity of their prayers and gives suggestions for encouraging growth in their child's prayer and spiritual life. While the book is not what I anticipated it would be, I was pleasantly surprised to find that it was much more. This grandmother is reassessing her prayer life and finding room for growth. -- Christian Home & School December 1998

Teaching Your Child How to Pray is must reading for all parents who are concerned and burdened about the spiritual development of their children. -Dr. Tony Evans, Oak Cliff Bible Fellowship
Rick Osborne's passion to equip parents to effectively minister to their children is clearly seen in the many excellent resources he and his wife and colleagues have developed. But more importantly, Rick writes and teaches what he lives. I heartily recommend Rick's resources to every parent. Rick is one of God's gifts to parents. -Josh D. McDowell, Campus Crusade for Christ
When Jesus' disciples saw Him praying, they came and asked "Lord, teach us to pray" (Luke 11:1). Our children, much like the disciples, will want to learn to pray when they see us occupied in fervent communication with the living God. I'm happy to recommend this book by Rick Osborne, who is able to communicate this message to parents and guide them in teaching their children to pray. -Larry Burkett, Christian Financial Concepts
What a great approach to teaching children how to pray. This is not just another boring "how to" book. In Teaching Your Child How to Pray, Rick Osborne makes this important venture challenging and exciting for both parents and their children. -Tim Wildmon, American Family Association
